Venice plans to experiment with an admission fee of 5 euros($5.35) for day trippers next year to try to manage the flow of tourists drawn to its historic canals, the city council said on Tuesday.
This is just a maneuver to extort money from visitors. Venice is a public city and if the municipality needs money they can tax residents like any other city. Except that nobody want to live in Venice because of reasons, so they want to exploit tourists. If I were a foreigner, I would simply change my destination.
