Any new strategy games worth checking out? Recently tried Pennon and Battle, which is similar to HOMM, and the roguelike strategy game Into the Breach. Just waiting for HOMM Olden Era to come out!
I love endless space 2 and endless legend allot
Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for, but I’ve been playing Gloomhaven Co-op recently. Dungeon delver, turn based strategy with RPG elements and an interesting mechanic for managing your attacks and movement through an encounter.
Tactical Breach Wizards
It is similar to Into the Breach in some ways.
This is a super underrated fun little game. Great on steam deck or similar too if you prefer a handheld.
If you like ITB, check out their other game FTL…and while you’re at it, check out Cobalt Core which was one of my favorite games of last year (even though it’s from 2023)
I’ll recommend Frostpunk and Frostpunk 2, too, but they’re a different kind of strategy to what you’ve posted.
Ever played XCOM?
- songs of conquest, homm inspired
- midnight suns, good turnbased battles with marvel heroes
- wartales, a bit like xcom in the middle ages
- phoenix point, xcom with serial numbers filed of.
- obligatory “battle for wesnoth”-plug, but i enjoyed that less than any of the above.
This is kind of like a mix of HOMM and the Civ games.
