Are these all gay men or trans men ? I’m not sure why they’re mad?
Whenever someone is mad for no reason, I remember the Anger Support Group from the TMI episode of South Park.
Anyone else in the “I didn’t like the halftime show because it was completely unintelligible” camp? Seriously, I couldn’t understand one single word he was saying. Was everyone else just using captions?
I’ve heard it’s better on YouTube and that some networks it was better than others. I didn’t watch it though
I was using captions because I can’t hear well
Stop taking selfies and drive your fucking car dipshits!
I don’t think it’s racist to not enjoy something you’re unfamiliar with. And I worry that labeling stuff that isn’t racism as racism waters down what racism actually is.
I didn’t really like the halftime show, but that’s because it’s not the kind of thing I usually listen to. I didn’t dislike it, it was just kind of…neutral to me. I’m guessing if I knew the tracks I would’ve enjoyed it more.
I did like the set design. It was pretty cool.
Had it been country music I would’ve actively disliked it.
The difference is you (and I) didn’t make a big fuss to make sure everyone in our social circles is aware of the fact we didn’t like it. If someone asks me, I’ll say “yeah the clown car thing was super fun and the backup dancers did good and the guy on the lamppost, what was he doing up there? But yeah not my thing.”
But that would imply that I thought the talent was talented and worked hard to put on a good show, which if I was a racist pos I would not want people to think I thought that.
So to recap: not liking something that isn’t to your taste is not racism, but declaring it excessively within certain social circles certainly can be a form of virtue signalling… The signaled virtue being how white you are.
I didn’t like it because i couldn’t understand what the man was saying. HipHop isn’t my jam so i wanted to hear this ultra-popular artist put on a show.
I didn’t understand 90% of his lyrics. Was the mix awful for anyone else?
the mix wasn’t fantastic
The difference is that you’re not calling it “DEI”, highlighting the fact that you just use that as a substitute for the n word, considering that all the performers were black and there was no diversity there.
I’m just going by what I’m reading online but to me it seems like a fair assumption that the people crying “DEI”, and who didn’t mind being in the same company as neo-nazis when it came to who they were supporting politically, are probably racist.

Yeah I also didn’t care for it, but that’s cause i don’t listen to Kendrick Lamar and I find rap hard to enjoy if you’re unfamiliar with the artist/lyrics (maybe it’s just me or my hearing, but stadium/concert rap is impossible to decipher).
Looking around at opinions, a lot of people enjoyed it so seems like he was a good pick.
I’m glad i wasn’t the only one who couldn’t hear shit. The mix was terrible.
I listen to that stuff and it was just okay. Better halftime shows and worse meh
That term was watered down several years ago. Which is sad, because it’s supposed to be impactful and mean something when heard. Now it’s a reactionary term for “thing/person I don’t like”. I know we’ll return to normalcy eventually, but damn, it’s taking a long time.
70% of NFL fans are white and 53% of players are black.
So the white fans want to watch black athletes but not have anything to do with black artists. They can probably block out that the players are mostly Black, Hispanic and mixed race because they have helmets on and are just jerseys to them.
We all are mixed… we are all humans… we all are homo sapiens (modern humans) Race is a concept to divide and conquer by some humans
Our government apparently (dei)

The underlying assumption here seems to be that white people don’t listen to hip-hop, which I don’t think is true at all. I think Superbowl audiences just span several generations and Kendrick, while pretty popular, isn’t so famous to be known by a lot of old people. This has been an issue with Superbowl acts for a while now… there’s not as much of a monoculture with pop music as there used to be, and so musicians aren’t reaching the same status in pop culture as they used to.
Well I didn’t want to type out more stats from where I found them but the bigger majority of the white breakdown was 55+, which probably does have a smaller group of hip-hop listeners than lower age groups.
I’m 54 and grew up as rap was invented and became popular. I wouldn’t expect many people older than me to dig it. And like country music, I like the older rap. What can I say? Our musical tastes get frozen in our teens and 20s.
If you start wide with your musical taste then your taste can still be pretty diverse, but I agree older music has more depth than most things coming out now.
Tool, NIN, Rage against the Machine have messages that are hard and heavy but mean something. They take multiple listens to fully open your mind to what they are saying but sound awesome even before you know the whole point.
Me, sitting in Europe with my binoculars: What are they up to this time over there?

Fucking racists. They should walk into a fire.
we should push them
Thats a weird way to say “trebuchet into the lava pit”, but I’m OK with options.
So what you’re saying is we should make a giant rube Goldberg machine with everyone’s ideas combined into one, for roughly a 2 hour viewing event, with voluntary donations to support correcting the harms caused by them?
If so, YES!
90% of that audience seemed to know when to scream “Mustard”, “Certified Pedophile” and “A-Minor” during the show so I doubt 90% of us haven’t heard the music.
“mustard”?
In “TV Off” there are two shout outs to DJ Mustard and the audience at the show clearly hit it much like they hit “A-minor” in “Not Like Us”.
DJ Mustard is a great name.
Thank you for explaining.
It must feel great when the growd knows your songs! I suppose KL is famous enough to be used to it.
I just found out DJ Mustard’s name is Dijon which makes it better.
That’s TREMENDOUS!
Bragging about the “gains” in the male demographic where trump still lost by a 47% margin tells you everything about the GOP https://navigatorresearch.org/2024-post-election-survey-racial-analysis-of-2024-election-results/
Pit, all of em
They’re always in their car in their avatar. I bet a massive super pickup too
Usually because they’re in the middle of a messy divorce, and “that bitch took everything.” Never their fault of course.
Been through 2 divorces and known many divorced people. LOL, can’t think of any where the woman took it all. Seems a problem with some folks though, don’t it?
My husband happens to look like a MAGA person (bald with a goatee and sunglasses) but he is as liberal as they come. At least he doesn’t drive a truck, lol. And he wears rainbow shirts. Cause, you know, rainbow = gay DEI or something.
Middle-aged, goateed, white guy here. LOL, I dress pretty country, but I have long hair and kinda have a vibe. No one speaks politics to me because they can’t quite be sure of what team I’m on.

My wife apparently passes so these MAGA nuts at her work tell her all sorts of racist tea.
‘passing as a MAGA nut’ is both a hilarious and depressing concept
Yeah I really dislike how guys with wrap around sunglasses are painted as Maga. Some of us with bad eyes need that protection from glare :(
You should take it up with everyone’s dad who wears the exact same pair. :p
Right? I love wraparounds. I’ve started wearing an ally flag pin, maybe that will let me wear the wraparounds without being judged for them. 😅
How about polarized glasses? I’m on the water a couple of times a week and I do great with $3 wayfarers from the thrift.
I’m a bit OOTL here. Did Kendrick Lamar do something at the half time or are they actually upset because he’s black.
Singing While Black.
Both as his show was a celebration of black American culture to some extent. It was great.
Nothing happened. Kendrick played some music and people documented people’s disapproval online, screenshotted them for a polarizing article about race.
Since ridiculous racist rhetoric exists SOMEWHERE on the internet, we will never know how the hatred is distributed over the usa population to accurately represent them because we are too dumb to question our newsfeeds. Instead we try to engage meaningfully with what we are fed.
These two comments sum it:
My takeaway from this is that Trump supporters are hiding their eyes so we don’t realize that they’ve all been crying constantly.
As someone who didn’t watch the Super Bowl, can anyone translate to regular people speak?
People who are white and privileged were called out on their privilege. They’re mad about it.
Also Kendrick Lamar was awesome.
Black man do song and dance, white man angry
Was it just a regular half time show with either rapping or RNB? -_-
There was also a Samuel L Jackson playing Uncle Sam. The maga crowd immediately hates that.
Specifically he played a caricature of racist white people. The racist white people didn’t appreciate being mocked.
Not knowing anything about the performers, I found it boring. But it was totally inoffensive. Just black folks being on stage, front and center, celebrating their culture.
You know, a nightmare for racists.
I am totally out of the loop on the Kendrick/drake battle and don’t listen to them. But, without verging too far into me being exactly who this meme is about, compared to other half time shows it seemed smaller? Like there didn’t seem to really be any other guest artists and it felt like it was building to a big moment that just never really happened. That could have been the A Minor song, but I just didn’t get it. The audio mix on the broadcast didn’t help. The music seemed turned down very low. I was watching it the whole time thinking I feel like I’m missing something and this might be really cool. /shrug
I don’t know about a battle or a beef. Kendrick straight up demolished Drake, who is a pedophile.
I’m not familiar with his music, but I found it basically impossible to understand any of the lyrics given the bad mix.
Yes
They’ll probably bring back fucking minstrel shows
What are they trying to show off with that weird head tilt thing? That their sunglasses aren’t broken? Or are they just trying to hide their fat face?
You got it. Hides their double+ chins.
That they are cheap AI generated bots, perhaps?
Isn’t it just that the phone is either one the top or bottom side of the windshield and they are recording the video while driving, so they don’t do a full tilt? It seems like it for several of the images.
Look, just because I’m balding and wear wrap around glasses doesn’t mean I’m conservative. I just don’t like the sun shining into the side of my eyes when I’m heading north or south which are the directions I primarily travel in.
It’s more the exact same profile pic in their car than it is the ocular shields. The sunglasses, as you can see, are a key part of the look, though.
Only blind people didn’t like the half time show?
