Got round to watching Altered Carbon on Netflix. The first season was okay, although it added a bunch of unnecessary filler and characters that weren’t in the book. Just started season 2, which I assume is based on the second book (haven’t read that one). The plot can be quite daft at times, but I’m enjoying it - feels like an old sci-fi B movie.
I rather enjoyed season 1 but, yes, it is a bit silly. Never did get around to season 2. For no real reason.
The 1st book felt a lot more intelligent in the way it was written, compared to the show - I’d recommend it.
Righto, I am still working through my to-read tower before it topples over and kills me but I might grab a copy and try and reverse Jenga it in.
Can only say what I am not watching, which is a load of stuff i have been wishlisting steadily on Amazon, only for it to go paid by the time I get round to watching it.
That sounds awfully familiar. I really need to get my viewing back on track.
Finally got around to starting The Expanse, near the end of season two, it’s pretty enjoyable if a bit slow at times.
Feels like I’m running out of good Sci-Fi series to watch, watched all of Star Trek (the good series anyway, 90’s Trek), The Orville, Stargate, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica.
What else is there?
Before picking up The Expanse a friend said I should watch Beef on Netflix, I did watch it but I didn’t enjoy it at all really, just seemed to be a show about a couple of arseholes being arseholes, it wasn’t even funny, I didn’t really see the point, there was no hook, no message, I don’t understand it all.
What else is there?
I’m a big Babylon 5 fan, so… that.
edit: -10 need points to me for not immediately saying: Firefly.
Oh yeah, forgot about firefly, probably because it was so short lived. Whilst I enjoyed the film I didn’t think it fit in so well with the series.
I can’t remember ever seeing Babylon 5, I think I might have tried to watch it as a child but it never appealed to me for some reason, will give it another go.
Definitely worth giving it a try.
Managed to catch some of Glastonbury but I was working Saturday, so couldn’t do my home festival as I had done previously.
I also got around to the first episode of Secret Invasion. Very enjoyable set-up - I can never get tired of the MCU’s Nick Fury. Also I can see what people mean with the titles but my main concern is they look very outdated - AI art has moved on.
Right now for some more Glasto and back to boxing off Inside No 9…
I’ve been watching the new series of Black Mirror on Netflix. Feeling like it’s the worse season yet. Mazey Day has to be my least favourite of the whole show… I hated it
It definitely felt the least “Black Mirrory” Black Mirror season. I enjoyed some of the episodes, felt at best neutral about others, but overall it didn’t have the unique feel that I loved about (most) of the other seasons.
Yeah, I need to.box that off too. So much stuff, so little time.
