A while ago I used to listen to the Linux outlaws which covered a lot of gtopics in Linux and FOSS. The show has discontinued and I’m looking for your recommendations.
What podcasts do you listen to, and what do you like about them?
I guess my favourite show is 2.5admins.
My other regular listens are Late Night Linux and all the other podcast in that family.Newcomers are The Homelab Show and Linux Lads.
Honorable mention to Jupiter Broadcasting especially Selfhosted, I just had to stop listening for a while because the Boosts jingle they had for a bit started to annoy me.
The boosts segment annoys the hell out of me for some reason. I just don’t want to hear about crypto.
Late Night Linux and all the shows Joe puts out, Linux Unplugged, Self Hosted, Bad Voltage and Grumpy Old Geeks (Not Linux based but still pretty good) Fabian from Linux Outlaws does a decent security / privacy based podcast now called The Private Citizen and Dan does Tales of the Unattested although it’s been 10 months since Dan put a show out.
Self Hosted Recently had a Lemmy Episode!
- Linux Unplugged
- Self Hosted
- Late Night Linux
- The Homelab Show
- Bad Voltage
Hosts are engaging, topics are interesting (to me), and I enjoy the discussions and banter.
I like all the shows on Jupiter broadcasting . They’re really into the fediverse, self hosting, etc. their shows are:
Linux unplugged Linux action news Self hosted Coder radio.
Chris and the gang have created an awesome community that you can find on matrix as well.

I also like their shows because they’re always trying new things and it encourages me to as well. The hosts are really human and it’s not like a voice reading a script. They’re really accessible and I’ve had many conversations with them. They’ve even featured one of my apps/projects They’re active in the community and Sponsor projects and meet ups. They’re also independent and really picky about ads.
Jupiter Broadcasting has nice Linux and FOSS-related podcasts. Most recently with an episode about Red Hat and their decisions.
I enjoy their shows but the singsong way Wes talks really bothers me for some reason.
Edit: I just got through the episode. It is pretty disappointing, and doesn’t answer to all of the criticisms, specifically those against the restrictive customer agreements that violate the free software definition (freedom 2). The aggressive stance echoes Bill Gates’ letter to hobbyists so closely, it was in the blog posts, it’s in the employee they have in the episode. Would be nice to have someone from the FSF or the Software Freedom Conservancy
Not putting in extra work is fine, restricting the rights of your users is shitty.
The only ones I keep up with regularly are the Jupiter Broadcasting shows. Linux Action News is great to keep up with notable things going on. Linux Unplugged & Self Hosted are great to put on in the background while doing housework or going on a walk. Well-edited along with fun off the cuff conversations, the guys hosting those shows have a good sense of humor and play off each other really well
There’s also the tuxdigital podcasts which can be pretty good most of the time.
I mainly listen to Linux Unplugged, Destination Linux and Linux For Everyone and really like them.
For English, I can recommend:
Linux Action News
Linux Unplugged
The Linux Experiment
He has even an lemmy community https://feddit.de/c/thelinuxexperiment_channel@tilvids.comGerman: TuxRadio
I have really been enjoying the “Linux User Space” podcast recently
All the ones mentioned mostly. But also Linux in the Ham Shack.
I listen to “Linux + Open source news”
