Cadets! This axiom may one day save your life: Phase first, ask questions later.

Is it an impostor? A clone or a hologram? Is it a chair or is it Odo? Too many questions! Now you’re on your way to being composted into Ketracel.

Phase first, cadet! Phase like Tendi scans. Do not hesitate to phase out the answers to your questions. If a visiting Klingon does not remark, “There seem to be a lot of phaser scars on this station” you have not been phasing appropriately!

Do not wait for them to escape into a jefferies tube or Engineering. Phase them!

We have stun settings for a reason, people! Phase each other, play tag. But for Koala’s sake, do not hesitate to fire. Our lives depend upon your itchy trigger fingers.

counterpoint: the closeups are meant to be seen as simultaneous, it’s a sort of psuedo slo-mo so you can see each character’s reaction in a fast situation.

But you don’t know who’s the changling. He could be pretending to be a locked up Bashir to get them to shoot the real one. (Were they on stun settings? Would that work?)

At least aiming their phasers while they were unsure would have given them a chance to react once the changeling transformed.

I mean, rule #1 of firearm safety is not to point the loud end at something you don’t want to kill, certainly not a colleague… not sure what they teach on day one of Phaser School but I suspect it’s not too far off!

Of course, but when you don’t know who is a deadly foe, there’s a bit more subtlety than having to be defenseless because you aren’t certain. The risks can never be reduced to zero, and the safety of you and your team can’t be ignored.

I swear to Kahless you are watching DS9 at the exact same pace as I am. Every time I see a watch an episode I see a meme from you the next day from it. It’s crazy!

It’s so random too, sometimes I watch 4 episodes in a row, then Kai Winn appears and I need a break

Haha that’s kind of been my cadence too. I had to take a break after the episode where Kai WInn became the pope and the president at the same time. Shes just too much sometimes.

Just so we can sync up, I am on the episode where Gul Dukat and Kira go on an expedition to find the lost prisoner ship. Haha.

Oh, I love when that happens!! It’s so fun and kind of wild. The world is so big, yet so small. It boggles my little mind.
