Just curious the ratio of who uses AOD and who doesn’t
I don’t think i have that feature…
I never use the Always On Display feature on the Apple Watch
I prefer the longer battery life over AOD , most of the time the watch is facing away from me until I look at it lol
I do not use it on long hikes/SUPs to preserve battery life. But I do use it otherwise.
I want my watch to look like a watch, so yes. And it’s useful for when hands are full, etc and turning my wrist isn’t an option.
I usually have mine on, but I turn it off in public when it may be distracting to others. I’ll also turn it off during extremely long workouts (Ironman training or all day hikes).
I think a better selection of choices would have been:
- My Apple Watch is capable of AOD and I use it
- My Apple Watch is capable of AOD and I don’t use it
- My Apple Watch is not capable of AOD
Yeah, agreed. This poll is misleading as all people with SE will answer No
Feel free to make your own poll
I use it but I have an Ultra so my battery life is still satisfactory.
I have never used the AOD on either my watch or phone. It’s a useless feature for me. YMMV.
If I don’t use it on my primary device; I won’t definitely use it on the Watch
I use AOD, but not always. I have a shortcut to turn on/off.
When I see myself on a situation constantly glancing (like next event while on the airport) the AW then I turn AOD on.
Hi, which is?
Turn Always On On
Or
Turn Always On Off
They are mega simple. But reduces the friction of looking for the menu and toggling it manually.
The main benefit of AOD for me is when I need to glance at the time during meetings. I don’t want to do the whole turning my wrist thing to “wake up” the display.
This is a “feature” that I always have with my mechanical watches and something that’s essential to my workflow.
You’re missing the option “I use Sometimes On Display”
You know, I’m just back to the Apple Watch so I’ve had it for, like, 4 days I believe. I love the AOD feature because I get really distracted every time I have to type something on my Mac’s keyboard the watch will light up - it annoys me. So AOD, time is always there when I want it and I love the Contour AOD face, but not its watch face. Wish I could have that AOD but with a different face.
And since the last charge I’ve decided to test out the battery with and without AOD to see which could be more ‘valuable’ in terms of battery life vs convenience. I’m in the ‘AOD cycle’ as of right now, lol.
The first charge I tested AOD off, raise to wake off too. That got me a day and a half and I put it on the charger at around 20%.
So far with AOD on - love it to just take a glance and see the time, date and the weather temperature complication. So far I’m gonna hit a whole day in about two hours now. I’m at 51%, so it should go for a day and a half till I have to charge it again. I’m thinking at 15% or so by the end of this period, let’s see how it actually does, but apparently the drain will not be so significant as I thought.
The only thing I’d have to test out is the AOD on the watch face I actually like ‘Modular Duo’ or ‘Infograph’.
I have AOD on and Raise to Wake off. My battery lasts about 24 hours so I am rather satisfied.
i would use it if i had it
