It seems that Arsenal is getting all the attention in the media when discussing the team to challenge Manchester City for the title whilst Liverpool are going under the radar. This is probably because Arsenal finished a close second to Manchester City last season. But it must be remembered that Liverpool finished a point behind Manchester City two seasons ago with 92 points whilst challenging for the quadruple. Also, the current Liverpool squad contains many players from that season and some were part of the Premier League and Champions League winning sides. Klopp seems to have a greater prowess of taking a team close to/winning a title.

In addition, Liverpool have had more difficult fixtures this season, they have played four of the big six (+ Newcastle) away whereas Arsenal have only played two and are still yet to play Manchester City away.

Yes and no. A lot of people were completely willing to write us off on the basis of last season saying that we would barely scrape Top 4 when I personally knew from the start we definitely were going to compete at a much higher level this time around, but at the same time, I don’t think we’re capable of going the distance right now. Arsenal aren’t as exciting but their mentality looks a lot better and City are always a monster in the second half of the season, especially once KDB comes back from injury

Our main issue is that we lack a proper holding midfielder. We have players who can play in that position but we lack a player like Rodri or even Declan Rice. It leaves us way too open at the back and vulnerable to fast counter attacks since Trent is constantly bombing forward and Alisson, Van Dijk & Matip/Konate can only do so much

As we saw against Luton away and even Everton at Anfield, we really struggle against low blocks. We find it difficult to break them down and when we try and push for a winner, it leaves us open at the back with two centre backs caught out because they were trying to score a header from a setpiece at the other end of the pitch, two fullbacks who’s best attributes doesn’t consist of defending and a #8 playing as a #6 as our main line of defense. We’ve been mostly bailed out so far as we saw yesterday but like Arsenal last year in some respects, I have a feeling it will catch up to us at some point

Well anyone that knows anything is pretty damn aware of what they could do this season. It’s a 3 horse race between Liverpool, arsenal and City. And tbh its bloody refreshing thats its actually a contest this year.

There’s no such thing as “under the radar” when you’re talking about a club with the most obnoxious fan base and who control half of the football media.

Defense win you titles and compared to arsenal and city, Liverpool have a super shaky defense especially against transitions. They are hanging in there now cause it seems everyone in the team can score somehow

Kind of I guess. We’ve heard a lot about City, for obvious reasons. Then we’ve heard about Spurs and Villa for punching above their weight.

We’ve heard quite a bit about Chelsea and United too, but for being shite.

You don’t really read much about Liverpool or Arsenal to be fair. Just ticking along.

We’re getting results but we still look like we have a hole in the middle of the pitch. The right hand side we conceeded twice (though once from a corner). We will have to see what happens when Salah goes to Afcon. If we get wins all the way through the holiday period, I think we are in the race.

    No?

The title race is pretty open, Liverpool are still in it. Man City are still more likely to go on a run.

Don’t know why people try to paint a nonsense narrative.

As an Arsenal fan, most of us would probably tell you it’s the other way around - that Arsenal have gone a little under the radar. At least from my point of view, the conversation keeps being between City and Liverpool. Maybe it’s changed free this game week who knows
