Well they’re not bringing back Legacy’s director and got Jared Leto to act in it so I’m not expecting much.

Daft punk wasn’t coming back long before the 15-year Gap. They were pissed at Disney back shortly after Tron legacy came out. Because Disney commissioned the whole remix album without their consent or permission. And then sold it. There were some banging remixes. Don’t get me wrong. But, going behind daft punk to do it and then cutting them out. Definitely will not make them want to return.

Interesting. I haven’t heard this. But also, the duo disbanded a few years ago.

Update: Found it. It was their manager that was mad. Busy P

Yes, though something like that had there been good relations could have gotten them back together. But yes, sad about their disbanding. I followed them since before they were daft punk.

I did read that one of the reasons they gave Tron: Legacy the green light was because they had no big sci-fi franchise of their own. Once they bought Lucasfilm, their problems were solved and that’s why the plans for a third Tron film fell apart years ago.

I have high hopes for this film because I love the franchise.

2 was barely there for me. i just dont have a lot of hope.

i feel like this one will likely be even more removed from the source material that made that original great.

I’m in the opposite camp, I loved Tron Legacy. Visually it’s superb, and when considered as a glorified Daft Punk music video like Insterstella 5555, it’s awesome.

daft punk took it from a mediocre enjoyable film to one of my favorites. I’m interested in tr3n but it needs something extra to make it stand out

i can appreciate this point of view. it was beautiful.

i think part of why i like the original is that it was far less polished, which is an artifact in my own brain. i was raised on original doctor who.

i was also disappointed in the arc of killing off the one guy i wanted to watch the movie for, in a place where death is beyond ambiguous…

One of the best soundtracks ever created. You can tell Daft Punk was like “this is our moment we’ve been preparing our whole lives for” haha. They really nailed it.

Story wise I think it still lived up to the original and had some interesting themes… people kinda have rose tinted glasses with the first movie, it wasn’t that well written either tbh.

I can only speak for myself really, but personally it felt like such an unnecessary movie. I enjoyed the visuals and music, but the actual plot was grating. The original was great for it’s unique approach, but it was only unique at the time. Now it’s just Disney printing money from a recognizable brand, just like star wars.

I can’t wait until we get Tron 4: Part 1 and Tron 4: Part 2, collectively known as the TR4NS movies

    spoiler

I know at least one person who realised she was trans when she wanted to be Olivia Wilde in Tron 2 more than she wanted to sleep with her.

Yeah, Se7en was the first one I remembered. It’s a silly marketing thing that often makes no sense.

The first teaser trailer for Tron: Legacy was revealed at the San Diego Comic Con in 2008. At the end, the title was revealed (excuse the quality, this version of the trailer was never officially released) to be TR2N.

It later transpired that this teaser was a proof of concept test, as Disney had not yet given the project a green light. The trailer was released a year later at the Con and online, but the title had been changed to Tron: Legacy.
