minus-squareGravitySpoiled@lemmy.mllinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up5arrow-down7·10 months agoWhy linking to a page that contains an image instead of posting the image with the source?

minus-squaremox@lemmy.sdf.orglinkfedilinkarrow-up18·edit-210 months agoSome browsers show it when you long press the image. For the others, you can edit the URL to m.xkcd.com

minus-squareElTacoEsMiPastor@lemmy.mllinkfedilinkarrow-up4·10 months agois this common for xkcd? because then I’ve been missing a whole layer of all the comics I’ve stumbled upon.

Why linking to a page that contains an image instead of posting the image with the source?
Linking an xkcd image directly would strip out the hover text, which is part of the comic.
P.S.
You’re one of today’s lucky 10,000.
How do you get the hover text on mobile?
Some browsers show it when you long press the image. For the others, you can edit the URL to m.xkcd.com
If you long press on the image, the hover over text will appear.
It cuts off
“Learning arcane bullshit from the 80s can break your computer, but if you’re willing to wade through…”
Maybe try tapping on the text?
That works!
I almost got it by switching to landscape, but still not quite.
You can tap on the text to have it expand.
