You need to press control alt delete and then insert a bent paper clip into the small hole in your CD-ROM drive. No, not that hole, the other one. Oops, you just made a five volt connection which fried every board in the system. Now you need to contact Compaq support. But they were just acquired by HP. And Fry’s went out of business. But it’s Thursday evening and Lost season 3 is starting tonight. Will Kate hook up with Jack or Sawyer?

I need to be dead honest here. This is Lemmy. If it isn’t there, make it. I get not wanting to moderate etc. but if you want that thing to happen you’re going to have to make it and you’re going to have to post as often as you can. Do I want to mod a community? Not at all, but I’ve made two and I post to both as often as I can when the opportunity strikes.

The whole “this niche thing doesn’t exist so I’m not enjoying Lemmy” argument falls flat for me. Just take the leap and keep going at the pace you can. Even if it is slow, it’s something and people may migrate and enjoy the content. Ignore downvotes, they don’t really matter here. Just post stuff, even if it is irregular.

I think you missed the point of the meme. Lemmy itself is pretty niche, which is why I shitposted it here. Non-defensively, I mod 3 small niche communities.

I have no idea why this meme caused you to say all of that, where does a lack of a niche community come into play with this meme? Just trying to understand

Ah man, looking at those bullet points I realize I’ve got the first two down pat (you should see how quickly my family’s faces turn to visual expressions of sighs! Next level disappointment speeds!)

But I realize now - I’m yet to achieve even a bronze in Internet Arguing!

      What are you obsessed over?

I bet it’s something stupid. You’re a big fat dummy head!

… I might be bad at this as well.

It’s fine, you’re doing well. You just need a few comments back and forth, then you start your fourth comment with “well, actually I think you’ll find…”.

On the fifth comment, you need to attack a minor spelling or grammatical error they have made.

Sixth comment, try and sound like you’re reasonable, and they’re obviously not… then it’s a race!

First person to compare their opponent to “basically Hitler” wins!

You should receive between 100 and 1000 argument XP, depending on the level of your opponent (you get about 10% more for a victory, but you can still level up if you lose every time).

1000002335 actual pic of my bro n I. Not cool man 1- proof I have actual family not fake and 2- offensive description of my actual existence bro, not cool if I could change how I look I would’ve years ago but Verizon got me locked in with that killer speed proprietary to my sick hardware, nothing I cloud do. T9 will always be faster that touch keyboards you can’t convince me otherwise

(Does bad grammer & missing punctuation add or subtract point from my internet argument skill-rank? Really shooting for that bronze, over here!)

I had one on Reddit but it didn’t move over to Lemmy (there was an attempt, but it fell flat).

So now I don’t have it anymore. Still not going back to Reddit though.

Might be worth some tooling to purge communities with no activity where the mods of that community are also completely inactive. The land grab during APIgate probably led to a lot of familiar community names getting taken with the best intentions but by people who fizzled out on Lemmy more quickly.

but don’t let it distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer’s table.

Ancient coins. There’s a Lemmy sub for it but it’s just dead. I posted to it a few times and, well, without any interaction at all, I don’t see the use.

Keep going. I promise it isn’t unnoticed. If it is dead to the point where the mod(s) won’t respond, request to take it over from the admin or make a new one.

Coins like that are really interesting for a lot of people. Post cool stuff, have fun with it, and let the grin go wide when you see someone else post.
