What a terrible name… And a not at all fitting replacement IMHO. I’m sure it’ll be fun but just not anything like the hype TTD was.

What’s everyone else think?

So I recently just got on Ka and Stormrunner recently, after missing TTD by a week, and xcelerator at knots the previous 2 years. And I don’t know, the top hat seems to play second fiddle to the absolute batshit insane launch. Like, you could launch me to 120mph and then hit the brake run and I still think it’d be like, 60-70% as good. The top speed is sick though, and I do love the reverse spike on like say Mr freeze. I’m sure it’ll be a blast, but Im mostly curious about throughput with 3 trains.

Also, does anyone think they had this being planned out as far back as removing wicked twister? They seem like kinda similar layout wise, and would look similar in the skyline. Still cool though.

After KD killed Volcano I was pretty certain TTD was next. Tons of people keep asserting that the accident sparked all of this but I honestly believe that the only thing it did was accelerate the timetable. Much like Disney used the pandemic as cover to destroy their pass system in a way they wanted to but couldn’t find an excuse to do so I think CP used the accident as a cover for what they were already planning. I don’t know if this is specifically what they were planning but something was in the works… It may well have been just a plain old removal but Zamperla stepped in with an idea. I also don’t think the removal of Wicked Twisted was figured into this equation but was just a victim of the same de-intaminizing that cedar fair is venturing into.

I still maintain that TT2 would be a great ride if it were built somewhere else from scratch but building it on the corpse of an absolutely bat shit crazy incredible ride even by today’s standards is going to make this fall short and the fact that they are leaning into this being the same ride by not really changing the name is only amplifying that problem. I personally don’t think I can ever traverse that same launch track at 74mph and not remember the stupid force that the ride once had… Maybe the top hat aspect will become more noticeable but the shadow of that hydraulic launch is going to be there for enthusiasts and, honestly, I think a lot of the general public as well… It’s going to have it’s fans but it’ll never be what CP is hoping it will be and the potential for the same headaches they had the first 5 years of TTD’s operation will come back on a system that they don’t know as well – and, frankly, I doubt Zamperla will know as well.
