A woman watched in amazement as a ‘big cat’ played in the high grass grounds of a church while she was on holiday near Lydney. At first she thought it was a dog playing in the grass, however soon realised it was a big cat pouncing and playing.

She had been on holiday with her husband for a few days in Bream before they visited a cottage they had booked in Lydney. Soon after she and her husband arrived at the cottage, the woman went to a nearby shop to get something for tea.

It was the day of the Men’s Wimbledon Final, and the husband was feeling poorly and stayed home. Initially she thought it was a dog she had seen. However the behaviour of the animal has been described as feline in character.

“I just was just completely mesmerised by the animal and stood there watching. I never thought for a moment I should take a picture of the animal.

The woman had Googled other big cat sightings in the area and found reports there had been some in the Forest of Dean. She also asked people who live in the area if there had been any big cat sightings and they all seemed to say no.
