I had cellular on my AW8. I like having it when I go out on a hike because I never take my phone and it gives me a way to be connected if I need to be. And then there were a couple of times where I forgot my phone at home and was still able to send messages, make a call, and stuff like that. It doesn’t get used all that often and maybe it’s not worth it but it sure is nice to have when you do need it.

  • It’s a great tracker. I use it for walks and I have never had a watch with GPS that has been as consistently accurate as my AW. Before this, I had a Garmin Venu and while it definitely had more metrics, the GPS just wasn’t consistent. And before that I had a Fitbit that was absolute garbage.

My AW doesn’t have the crazy level of metrics that the Garmin has but it does have enough. I don’t need 25 different metrics, most of which I don’t understand, for my walks and hikes. YMMV if you are an elite athlete or a marathon runner or something like that. For distance and heart rate, it is a fantastic device.

  • I have an AW8 and I recently got an Ultra 2. I use the AW8 for when I want a smaller, lighter watch. It’s great for traveling and I do some workout, like boxing, where it gets uncomfortable under my gloves. I mostly use the Ultra 2 though. Also, I have cellular on the AW8 and haven’t transferred it to the Ultra 2 yet. I don’t like to bring my phone on hikes, so I wear the AW8 so that I have a connection. It’s an evolving situation. I will move cellular over, I’ve just been too lazy. 😂

  • The Fitbit did sleep tracking like no other device I’ve used. That was the ONLY thing that it did right. Fitbit is garbage. Every Fitbit I ever had died about six month after the warranty ended. And the most they would offer is a coupon for 20% off another Fitbit. Talk about an abusive relationship. I’d been a customer of theirs since the very first step tracker they put out but I finally had to move on to Garmin. And then I got an iPhone and the rest is history. I now use an AW8 and an Ultra 2.

Oh, and the Fitbit also kept the time pretty well.
