haha, no. It’s just lack of commitment, I wasn’t sure where I wanted to keep the focus so everything came haphazardly. When I see finished art pieces on the web, artists usually mention the time they spent on it. It’s like 10, 12 hours sometimes. I sort of give up after 2 hours. Very rarely I paint for 3 to 4 hours and difference is noticeable in those pieces.

I agree with you assessment. Consistency in detail is an issue here. I changed my mind few times while painting it, whether to make the details loose or closely knit.

I used to go to calligraphy class as a child (Urdu in Nastaleeq pattern) and my teacher was actually a very skilled oil painter. I’m fascinated with the medium ever since. Later, My sister studied fine arts and I tried it on a small canvas at her place, it was exciting. I painted a bird but it never came to life, lol.

I actually want to do traditional art but I don’t have dedicated space right now. My nose is sensitive to the oil and paint smell. I’ll do oil painting one day for sure.

Oh, I just looked and yes it’s probably that. I didn’t completely follow the reference picture but that church building looks like it’s from Lauterbrunnen.

It’s digital but I was trying to mimic oil painting style but I forgot midway and start using plain brush so I lost some of the texture. Haha

well, I use Krita and I only rely on default brushes. I use one with a bit of smear effect. I usually draw on a single layer and I paint in a fidgety manner, which means I am constantly making mistakes and fixing them. I peeked at your profile, you are damn talented yourself! kudos!

You will likely become way better than I if you are doing it at a young age. I started very late.

awww, that’s a big compliment! Actually, I am not a fan of too much realism but I just put too much detail around their nose and then I sort of had to do the same to the whole piece.
