I just came back from china where like 5 star hotels go for $100, luxury hotels go for like $50, and like regular ones for like $25 and these prices feel even more absurd…

it’s in chinese and it basically shows clips of foreigners vlogging and showing their reaction. i think there was a… russian? i don’t know what language the vlogger was saying(there were chinese subtitles tho), and it just went through a couple comments too. essentially detailing like comments about safety, infrastructure, rail, etc…

still at the china camp so not too much to report. slept kinda late up w friends last night but i don’t regret it. flying to fujian province later today.

it’s government sponsored too. it’s basically the chinese government offering a free tour for chinese diaspora on their dime

been at a summer camp in china so not too much time but been getting some running and taiji as well as some journaling in. really missing rock climbing hopefully i can do some when the camp finishes and i head to chongqing.

Went to the university i’m going to next fall’s encampment. It’s crazy to go from high school where i could barely find anyone supportive of palestine(supportive enough to actually take action. most people were supportive but like no one did anything which pisses me off to no end but tangent aside) to a full on encampment. food was bussin tho

my parents are from chongqing and i’m going back next summer. I can’t wait to see the public transit! I haven’t been back in quite a few years(pre pandemic) and i’m exited to take the metro and HSR(i at least remember riding that the last time I was in china)

Wow that article was just full of anti-china sentiment and sinophobia. I especially found it funny when they mentioned how liberal democracies also had their own training schools, but that’s okay because it’s liberal democracy.

China exporting it’s system is not okay because it’s “authoritarian,” but when we it it’s promoting freedom. There’s this inherent white-supremacy, this racism that the western system is factually better, and they make their conclusions from there. They don’t justify it, it’s just viewed as a fact.

But either way, it’s really inspiring that China is doing this.

Just finished finals, will have to wait to see how I did but I’m pretty proud of how it went.
