I went for a little walk on a stretch of the Oxford Canal in the Cherwell District area today, so I thought I would share a few pictures that I took. It was very peaceful. It makes my day when friendly boaters say hello when passing by.

I don’t have a fancy camera or anything but I still like taking some pictures while I’m out. :)

It really is. I moved here from a rural town in the Derbyshire Dales - population less than 4k. Where I currently live the town is much larger and so busy, almost 55k and surrounded by industry and the M40. I go on the canal to escape and feel like I’m back in nature again.

During the pandemic this was a regular daily-exercise route. It was the first time as an adult I watched the same small place go through all four seasons, watching the different birds and plants come and go. I’m not a very nature-y person, but I really appreciated that.

It’s really nice to hear that you found an appreciation for the changing nature even if it isn’t usually something that’s on your radar. I wonder where along the canal route you are compared to me!? I kept it vague with Cherwell District because you know, this is the internet. Lol.

I’m around the Oxford area, so I get a lot of time walking along the Thames. A lot of houseboats. Occasional, worrying house-shipwrecks…
