Looks like it, I just wasn’t sure if the United Kingdom one wanted to be kept for more general stiff about the UK which was a bit more serious than Casual UK and then a dedicated UK News community would be the automatic destination for news.

Tbh we could have it and see where people go. No reason to just copy Reddit

True. Reddit evolved organically, whereas a new start lets us put a bit of planning in.

        So you could have:

        News:

        • UK News - for serious news
        • And finally - less serious news

        Non-news:

        • United Kingdom - more serious discussion of British issues
        • Casual UK - for less serious discussion of it

Over in the other discussion I also suggested c/muckraking for tabloid journalism and gossip (which would give people the chance to block it and not have it trouble their timeline).

Honestly, I’m in favor of seeing where things land.
As we’re a smaller instance, more “general” communities are good for keeping things feeling active.
But if people are keen to try starting things up and seeing how they go, I don’t see any reason to stop them, other than mentioning my previous sentence.
