I bet some of this is there is just too much turmoil and unknowns in the driver market right now. If Sainz getting a seat is still up in the air. I bet Albon is happy to play it a little safe and then see how the teams are doing with the new regulations.

Awesome. I rather enjoy seeing him throw that Williams about like a stripper’s bra - making it do things and putting it on grid slots that the machinery has no right in achieving. Good on the guy.

It does make you wonder whether RB dropped him too soon. I mean, he was awful at RB, but is clearly a quality driver.

I don’t think they dropped him too early, I think they promoted him too early. He only had half a season at Toro Rosso before being thrown into the deep end and being judged directly against Max Verstappen! It would have been interesting to see how he developed if he had a similar progression to Russell, with a few years in the slow car to get a feel for F1 before the promotion.

Yeah that’s a really good point actually. I never really thought of it like that, and I had completely forgotten about the whole Gasly debacle.

Fair play to him though, he’s absolutely proved his point on his return to F1. Must have learned a lot from his year with Goatifi.

I would have bet that Albon was also a contender for the Audi or Mercedes seat. Williams must have a promising outlook if he decided to stay with them instead of gambling on a one-year stint at Mercedes.
