I really want to get the PSVR2 but there seems to be a lack of titles for it. Arizona Sunshine 2 has me interested. But I’d really like to play Skyrim VR, the last time I played that was on the original oculus headset. Other than that a pretty cool tech demo for Horizon and Gran Turismo but that’s it.
If they could backport PSVR2 to work with if Skyrim be was available on PSVR2 even just the ps4 version, it would be enough to justify the set up for me.
What other games do you really want to come to PSVR2?
There are too many technical hurdles to making backwards compatibility work, and personally I’m glad they ripped off that band-aid this gen and gave us real VR controllers.
And if you think there’s a lack of games, you just haven’t been paying attention.
I am glad they gave us real controllers too and not just half assed move support into PSVR2. And you are right that coming up with a translation layer to might have been too complicated or to resource intensive to justify development.
The list of available games isn’t that impressive though. A lot of them are short experiences that are available and probably better for the cheaper quest 2. And it has a real lack of AAA development. It’s a vicious circle I know. I just feel like we need more AAA first person shooters and action RPGs. Resident Evil Village isn’t enough to justify it and neither are a bunch of quest titles.
That’s kind of the story with VR everywhere though: there’s a tiny handful of AAA titles and a ton of indies. You have to dig a little more for the gems. PSVR1 was the same. I do have to disagree than any multiplat game would be better on Quest: it’s massively underpowered. This video shows how drastic the difference can be.
It is a shame that we’re not going to get any more Bethesda games ported to VR (there’s a rumor that the “exclusivity” Sony was negotiating for Starfield was really a VR port), but PSVR2 does have some decent games still in development. Remember, it has only been 5 months since it launched. Eurogamer occasionally publishes a video with clips of upcoming games. Their latest one has 111 games in it, and while some of it is shovelware or just not things I’m interested in playing, I’m personally looking forward to around a dozen of those.
I’ve got a relatively big list of games that are either released or are in development. That i personally think look pretty good. If you’re interested, I can drop the list here, but I won’t be able to for about 9 hours from the time I make this comment.
I’d appreciate it, if you don’t mind the effort.
No effort at all, mate. I’ve set a reminder and I’ll get back to ya.
Here you go, mate.

Gran Turismo 7
I have townsmen vr, but I haven’t actually played it yet
Really need a Wipeout update for PS5 and VR2. And Minecraft.
Although Astrobot can’t work with a simple update, it would be nice to get a rework of it for the new headset and controllers.
Maybe Blood and Truth as well.
Wait… I was under the impression it is backwards compatible?!
As for your question: I want more racing games in VR, like F1 and some rally titles.
Unfortunately not, you can play psvr1 games on ps5 with the original psvr but not with psvr2
Wow… just wow… is it because of the hardware? Otherwise it’s a really strange decision.
PSVR1 tracked the DS4 controller via the light on the back, and a few games used the camera directly.
The Move controllers were awful as well. In fact the controllers were the weakest part of PSVR1 by a long way. That and the drifting camera.
I can see why they dropped it as it’s a very different headset and controller setup, but it’s a shame to lose those some of those games. Be nice if they got updates for PSVR2.
Thank you for the explanation, this makes perfect sense.
And yes, it is a truly a shame… but maybe some of them get a PSVR2 update in the future!
I’m assuming there must be some technical differences between the headsets that make it infeasible to make them work
Wow, I didn’t even know VR2 isn’t backwards-compatible. I have been toying around with the idea of renting a PS VR headset (1 or 2) to try Skyrim for a bit. Good thing I didn’t rent it just yet and stumbled upon your post. I probably would have gone for VR2 because it’s better over all. I guess it’s settled then lol.
