They totally do belong on pizza. The sweetness balances out the savoriness. It’s a great balance

That’s a bit of tough question. I’m not sure if there is a larger reason as to why it’s needed but if something was too savory I might feel like it’s overwhelming. I might feel like something is missing. Beer is a good example, sometimes it’s too bitter, so they balance out the bitter with other things. But it tastes very bad without the balance. A cake that’s way too sweet is bad, but if you adjust the ratio it tastes much better. I think pineapple adds something to pizza and for me it works. Only because it’s not overwhelming and not out of balance

Fine, pineapple doesn’t belong on your Pizza. I happen to like pineapple on mine though. See, now we’re all happy.

NO! You get no pineapple, unless you live in Hawaii. This is kind of like how non-rock and roll artists don’t deserve to be in the rock and roll hall of fame. BUUUUT! In also keeping with that distinction, Rock and Roll as a music genre has already died out decades ago. So there’s a limited time window of who even could qualify for their hall of fame, and thus their relevance dies out with the boomer generation.

Now if they want to rename themselves to the MUSIC hall of fame, I have no issue with all the artists that have been admitted that previously shouldn’t have been there.

I didn’t like pineapple on pizza for the longest. I changed my mind when I had a local Italian deli’s pizza.

Attached is a pic of it because it looked so amazingly good.

Don’t trust any franchise chain for doing justice for pineapple on a pizza. Their ingredient choices are likely to blame.

I think a lot of people who dislike pineapple on pizza first tried it at like a Domino’s or something, where they either make it way too soggy and ruin the pizza or make it way too dry and ruin the pineapple. Pineapple needs a delicate balance of juiciness, and every time I’ve tried it at a mediocre pizza place, they just don’t get it right. I think another component of this too is that pineapple pizza is at its absolute peak when it’s on very thin crust, and I think that might be in part because it’s somehow easier to balance out that juiciness.

But when they do get it right? Oh my god, it’s amazing.

Sweet & meat is a classic combo in many cultures

Hell you have pineapple on a roast ham and ham & cheese is a foundational sandwich

This all shows you’re categorically wrong

Here is the stupidest opinion you’ve ever heard:

Pineapple on pizza is a good palate cleanser.

When it’s really well done, having a single slice of pizza with pineapple on it (not a jumbo slice, but a modestly sized one) can be a good transition. There’s a certain novelty to the taste.

It works as a one-off mouthful before transitioning to a different flavor.

I also think if it was treated this way - as in a little $1.50 transitional pastry you just got off to the side of y our meatlover’s that you had before transitioning to a radically different flavor, it could really work.
