What I mean is, do you enjoy reading on your favourite sofa, or with a cup of tea? Maybe you only read if you can do it for 3-4 hours straight?

How do you settle down to read a good book?

With a glass of scotch, in the hottub, on a cold winter night. I picked up the Kindle Oasis specifically for this purpose, since it is water resistant.

Depends how good the book is. If I’m really hooked I can read for hours but I need total silence or some gentle instrumental music. Nothing with lyrics or I end up listening too much to the song. 😆

It also depends on the type of book. I love my “making of” books about films and I buy those in a physical form. If it’s fiction, I’m quite happy to read on my basic Kindle. I used the Kindle (3rd gen) for years. It was the model with a keyboard. But during a black Friday sale, my wife bought her and myself a cheap 10th gen model which has the backlight.

I couldn’t go back to reading on an e-ink display that didn’t have a backlight. One of the things I like most about my Ereader is how light and noiseless it is. It’s perfect for reading whilst a baby or a partner sleeps next to you, having to stick a light on top of it like some old-school Gameboy totally ruins that for me.

I too tried book lights on my old Kindle. They were never bright enough and I might as well have turned the light on!

I can’t do the ‘in bed’ reading because well…my second born child decided that I was incorrect and that my bed was actually his bed.

      Le sigh.

I must admit that I am often so knackered I’ll settle down to read and wake up hours later, cold and wondering why I left the light on.
