The Imbrian Ocean is at a time of severe instability. The monarch of the vast Empire that spans its unjust depths (:3) is sick and nearing death, every territory of the ocean now vying to carve their own Destiny out of the chaos. From the Volk fascists

On the edge of the Empire sits the glorious Union! The (Soviet) Union 
is a socialist federation of three states (and one anarchist mountain 
)that were formerly slave colonies under the Imbrian Empire until they broke away in a fierce liberation war. They have spent the last 20 years since then building themselves up. Whether they be Human 
, Shimmi 
(Catgirls who usually follow a religion closely related to modern Islam), and Kattaran 
(a hybrid humanoid species with characteristics of sea life ranging from sharks to cuttlefish)building socialism side by side.
First lead under the revolutionary leader Dashka Kansal, then the Idealist Ahwalia who lead the country to near ruin in pursuit of building a utopia on pillars of sand, then under the scientific socialist 
leadership of the Grand Marshall of the Union, Bhavani Jayanskar (I love Jayanskar so much shes basically as if Stalin, Lenin, and Zhukov were rolled into the same person but was a black lesbian badass who wore the uniform REALLY WELL)(she aint the main character at all tho shes only in very few scenes i just love her so much). Under Jayanskar, the Union has been growing their economy to both eliminate hunger and give everyone a home 
, but also growing their military capabilities for the inevitable return of the Empire. The Union is alone, but with the people by its side nothing, not even Destiny, can snuff out true freedoms light. 
As war wages between the Empire and Republic (basically underwater USA) once more over the lands between them, the facade begins to finally crack…
And a border conflict between the Empire and Union escalate, and the dreaded reconquest begins.
Amidst this turmoil, lives our main characters (yes there are multiple and all of them are lovely). Each of whom I personally love dearly, and are very well characterized. Many are soldiers of the Union, some are scientists, some are divers (mech pilots), some are lost strands finding new meaning after joining this band of Brigands
All are Communists 
All serve the Union 
All would gladly give their lives to defending socialism 
but even they would have little inkling of the adventure set in store for them as the lands beneath the waves erupt in fire, fury, and revolt
Can these transgender badasses kick fascist ass?

Changing name talk
I found that I don’t particularly care about my name? Like sure it’s just a word I’m used to and I might like maybe other names slightly more, but overall I don’t care enough to change it as names for me don’t really matter. Maybe if I get a more androgynous or femme name I’d enjoy it but so far I’m fine with my assigned at birth one even if I don’t identify with AGAB. I know for many trans people name is a big thing, idk why it isn’t for me. Perhaps it’s the dissociation or something else, no clue
I don’t currently have any plans to change my masc name (maybe change the spelling by a single letter or two, but it would have no effect on pronunciation). I don’t care for my name, but no other name appeals to me. Also, my name was chosen to rhyme with my mom’s name, so I imagine its important to her (she’s not my birth parent and had lost custody of a child to a birthparent once before). The letter changes would just make my name more similar to my mom’s without just taking her name (which I don’t want to do).
Meeting other people with my name when I was an egg often made me feel uncomfortable because all the other people with my name seemed a lot more masc I think? Also had a fun experience with a classmate whom we never told each other our names despite sitting together every class… so like I guess overall I consider it a negative, but any other name feels weirder.
I like my name, but it’s very feminine and I’m afraid that people won’t take a trans guy with a super feminine name seriously. That’s a silly reason to change my name though so I’m just keeping my name as it is until I find a name that I like more.
my name experiences
When I was young I started explicitly doing things I wouldnt otherwise do, including change my interests, in order to feel safe emotionally and keep people from hurting me. A huge part of changing my name was recognizing the shell I was operating through, and was being used to modify my behavior. I still carry a lot of those maladaptive coping mechanisms with me, but putting my deadname behind me allowed me to move forward with tearing down that fake person Id constructed. Theres aspects of him that Ill hold on to and use as a shield some times, but he is no longer here, and in a lot of ways “he” was never really a person, just an immitation of a person I was trying to build.

I never cared about or for my dead name. People would mispronounce it or misheard the mispronounciation and people would get it wrong all the time. I never once, ever, corrected them. Before I cracked my egg I would’ve said I just didn’t care about it, after transitioning it was nice to pick a name I actually vibed with!
I was looking through names and found one that I thought meant oceans of wrath and that’s the one I went with (amongst other reasons). Turns out it doesn’t mean “oceans of wrath” even a little, but I do like the idea of it lol
