I don’t know about “career defining”, but Willem DeFoe is overdue for some recognition. The man is a brilliant actor and, as far as I’m aware, has never received an award.
I think it’s a crime that he didn’t win anything for his role in The Lighthouse. I understand The Lighthouse not being mainstream, but that performance! For both of them, in fact.
