Feddit UK continues to grow, and as such @tom@feddit.uk is going to need to spend more time and money on hosting, moderation, and general tinkering. Using the Ko-Fi link is good for giving the odd one-off donation, but perhaps an OpenCollective account (like some of the Mastodon servers are using) would be a longer-term approach.

Good idea and that looks like a very useful service.
It’s a good idea to get the funding nailed down in case there are any sudden waves of new people as it should all be scalable.
I have suggested registering affiliate links for placed like Amazon - might as well claw back cash off them for sending them sales. I imagine there’ll eventually be a bot that could add them automatically.
Any other ideas?

Granted it might be a bit old school, with Patreon and the like, but it was one of the first thing I’d when helping set up a web site or forum as it can claw enough cash back to be a big help with hosting costs. It might be a bit Web 1.0 nut it has the advantage of scaling with the user numbers and it is passive, so while an early enthusiastic core might subscribe to something like OpenCollective, you might expect the percentage of subscribers to users to drop the more people you get.
So how would it work? Well there’s talk about running a book club in UK Politics, so you could drop in a link to the relevant book at the start of each book club and tag the affiliate link on the end. It came to mind when I posted about the 50th anniversary screening of The Wicker Man and I thought it’d be useful to drop in some links to the fancy anniversary editions being released. Beyond that I will be starting British Books and British Films and they’d tend to attract links to places you can buy the relevant item.
I notice Lemmy.world also run a Patreon account which is worth thinking about as plenty of people have that.
They also attach a panel to each community with relevant information, although I would prefer it to be collapsed by default. This would definitely be useful especially with helpful links for new users.
