    Who would have thunk it that privatising universal public services just leads to money being funnelled to private pockets whilst the services just get worse and worse.

    I really hope there is a hell, because even if I end up in it, I know Thatcher is already there.

    Research by data analyst Tom Forth in 2019 concluded that Birmingham’s size — and therefore access to its labour market — effectively halved during rush hour because of poor bus services. His research concluded that this could explain most of Birmingham’s productivity gap with its European comparators.

    I was looking for the linked piece the other day. It’s an illuminating read. I hope the claim that it’s being taken seriously in Westminster is true (and that this actually leads to investment in productive policies for once).

    Real pity we dont have a natioal opposition willing to reverse public transport privatisation.

    Given how much support plus how much anger at the current system exists with voters.

    Its not like any party can claim privatisation has achived its claimed goals.
