I got two tickets from them despite my car being clean, and had to fight TfLs minions with a lawyer for half a year.

        Half a year

So this must be under the old scheme though right I thought the difference between the new scheme and the old scheme was that the old scheme was more about congestion.

Poor people tax. My car qualifies and I still hate it. I stopped going to Bristol over it.

You know how much a 2006 petrol engine car costs?

Actually it isn’t a poor person tax - if you look at a borough like Haringey, less than 50% of household own a car - they are the poor people.

I think a lot of 2015 and older diesel cars don’t qualify. I know my friend’s volvo doesn’t. UK has a big number of diesel cars. They’re efficient and reliable. Those got hit the most.

            They’re efficient and reliable.

Unfortunately they don’t use the Ad Blu system - so they spew out a lot of PM 2.5s, sadly. It;'s why I got myself a 2016.

            They’re efficient and reliable

…and spewing out shit which causes harm to people’s lungs when in dense areas like cities.

Do you not like clean air?

I have a 2015 diesel that claims to be an SUV (but I think it forgot about the S) In any case it’s fine, so i’m not sure which cars it is that full foul of the scheme. As far as I can tell you practically have to be driving a tractor.

Mate it’s a camera made for punishing poor people. It’s hardly terrorism. It’s government/council infrastructure, no use to a civillian

An explosive being used to cause serious damage to property in order to “influence a government” is terrorism under the Terrorism Act. This is a leopards eating face moment for those who thought these laws would only apply to brown people.

Literally in the legal definition in the Terrorism Act:

        (2) Action falls within this subsection if it:

        • involves serious violence against a person
        • involves serious damage to property
        • endangers a person’s life, other than that of the person committing the action
        • creates a serious risk to the health or safety of the public or a section of the public
        • is designed seriously to interfere with or seriously to disrupt an electronic system

Also, poor people in London don’t generally own cars. Driving is not an efficient way to get around London and it’s a luxury.

This is a tax on those better-off Londoners who do drive, and who drive older polluting cars - or who live outside London but drive their older polluting cars into London - to protect air quality for poor Londoners who don’t drive but do suffer from the consequences of cars.

Also there’s a massive scrappage scheme so that minority of poor Londoners who do drive - and who happen to old a petrol car that’s almost old enough to vote - can get thousands of pounds of government money towards a new one.

        So you’re talking bullshit.

Yeah but it’s still terrorism it’s a bomb it could blow up at any time it could go wrong and kill someone.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Two men have been arrested by officers investigating an explosion in which a ULEZ camera and surrounding property were damaged.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command arrested a 60-year-old and a 61-year-old over the incident in Sidcup, southeast London.

Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry said: "The explosion could easily have had far more harmful consequences, and today’s arrests highlight just how seriously the Met is treating the incident.

“My local officers are continuing to work with and support the Counter Terrorism Command who are leading the investigation due to their specialism in dealing with incidents involving the use of explosives.”

After the explosion, a spokesman for the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “This grotesquely irresponsible behaviour puts both lives and property at risk.”

The move sparked fierce opposition and police have recorded more than 1,000 crimes linked to ULEZ cameras being stolen or vandalised.

The original article contains 309 words, the summary contains 147 words. Saved 52%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

I really wish people would just stop getting over excited about something that barely affects anyone. This is just because of the Tory rabble rousing. Amazing how many riots and other problems they’ve directly caused this year isn’t it.
