My eldest is screaming because she didn’t get as many eggs as she thought she would. Thanks Bluey.

How’s your weekend going?

I’ve had an incredibly chilled weekend. My wife took the kids away for a couple of days with her friend and her son; she’d been away a few weekends ago with her mum for her grandads birthday and I’d had the kids on my own for a few days.

I managed to go into town on Friday and buy the kids more clothes and myself some new trainers, then had a couple of beers in a nice small ale house, got home and had a curry, and spent yesterday working on some personal projects that I never have the time or energy to work on (literally haven’t touched it in 2 years). It’s crazy how relatively little house work there is to do when there aren’t kids trashing the place constantly, all I have to do is tidy up my own mess and then that’s it!

On the downside, I couldn’t get a food delivery slot for our usual Sunday morning, thinking it was fully booked, and my wife intended to do the food shop today (Sunday)… but it’s a bank holiday and it’s closed, so we’re running on empty.

I went to what I thought was an Easter event on Sunday at a local sports club, just me and the little one (7mo). I didn’t expect to do any Easter egg hunting, just thought he might like to look around and such.

I stood in a queue for 15 minutes that I thought was to enter the place. Turns out it was for face painting which we weren’t going to do. Had a nice chat with a family which was good though, they didn’t know the queue was for face painting either.

Went to the bar in the end and got a pint of lemonade, looked around and realized all the tables were booked for a private event and practically no one was there for the advertised event. I stood around for 10 minutes looking like a complete mug holding a baby.

Found out someone dressed as a rabbit was coming so thought ok I’ll wait for that as it was happening at 3pm. Waited another 2 minutes which felt like about a billion years, checked my watch and thought f*** it, it’s not worth the wait. Put baby back in the pushchair and high tailed it out.

He was absolutely great, just happy to look around and smiling at anyone who looked at him. He napped like a king when we got home so it was good for that, but it just seemed to lack some sign posting and organization… next year he’ll be older and we might actually do some egg hunting.

Right now he wouldn’t understand the concept of a white rabbit laying chocolate eggs for Jesus, but next year I’m confident he’ll know what a rabbit is so we’ll be one step closer

That’s one of the reasons I can’t stand Bluey. So many tantrums.

Do the kids at the end of the episode learn what they did wrong? Yeah I guess…

Does my toddler just see a kids punching their dad? Stabbing him painfully with a sharp object as a play doctor? Throwing a Muffin level tantrum? Does she see all of these things and mimic them completely ignoring the end-of-the-episode lesson? Yup.
