I’ve not read the article (obvs) but my wife used to work with long term sick people and she had to quit in the end because there were so many people just gaming the system who clearly could work. She also told me a story about some guy who was terminally ill and had less than a year to live but he was being sent to work.
this is a big reason I like a citizens income. everyone who needs it. gets it. motivation is there to make more and youll eventually pay more in taxes than what you get but its should be so incremental there is no reason to try to min max your earnings vs benefits. its there the moment you need it. no paperwork or beuracracy because you get it regardless.
