Reform UK leader Richard Tice has told candidates not to use social media after drinking alcohol as he looks to clampdown on “inappropriate” comments surfacing online.

The party has severed ties with 10 candidates ahead of the upcoming election after receiving complaints about their social media activity.

Tice says every political group has its “morons” but he emphasised his determination to swiftly remove them from the party ranks.

During a press briefing in London, Tice said: “We’re very clear to all our candidates for heaven’s sake if you’re going to have a glass on a Friday night then don’t use social media.”

Tice went on to assert that any large organisation is susceptible to having elements of its community act inappropriately, stating that it’s impossible not to lose 1% or 2% to “something daft”.

He explained: “Every party has their share, frankly, of muppets and morons you’ve seen it with the sexual weirdos going on in the Tory Party, we’ve seen it with the antisemitism in the Labour Party and George Galloway’s party.”

So first they go asking the media to help vet their own candidates. Then they fail to notice one of their candidates had died. Now they are formally telling candidates not to trash talk while drunk.

Reform’s not getting off to a great start it seems. Not that the bar is particularly high for UK right wing political parties now anyway though…

Yes but since Reform seem to exclusively take right-wing wing nuts, and Tory party rejects, their signal to noise ratio is pretty low.

This might be why other parties vet their candidates. Just a thought.
