    It would be almost as recklessly stupid as cancelling it to not bring it back.

    The west coast main line is at capacity today and it’s only gonna get worse. This infrastructure was needed 10 years ago and it’s at the point now where we’re gonna have to push more and more freight onto roads

    It’s good that the Tories were too incompetent to sell the safeguarded land to their donors/old school chums at a pittance before the clock ran out. And as such, reinstating the line is a no-brainer. Not building it will result in most of the money still being spent, with only a marginally useful shuttle service between London and Birmingham to show for it.

      No, I don’t think any of the land has been sold yet. They started the process, but it takes ages and can be stopped if Labour wants to.

      That was just the free handout part. Now they can sell it again for even more money!
