Don’t worry, only beings who have mastered the technique can actually retain their selfs in the Force.
So, you’re saying that the Younglings are dead forever?
Yup!
What a relief!
That’s cannon. But I don’t think Anakin has gone through the “get back from the dead” training either.
it’s all retconned anyway.
How is it all retconned? Yoda learning the technique was a clone wars episode which is still canon
Sure, but according to episode 5 and 6, Yoda must have taught the technique to Obi Wan, since he was able to force ghost in both episode 5 TESB, and episode 6 TRoTJ. Therefore any Jedi after the clone wars episode that Yoda learned the ability in, should, theoretically, have been told about the ability by Yoda, because there’s almost no other explanation as to how that ability got spread throughout the Jedi so quickly, when it is clear that it didn’t spread throughout the Sith.Edit: I replied to the wrong comment.

Yoda pass the training to Obi Wan as “homework” in the end of the Clone Wars. Anakin isn’t around at that time.
Gotcha, I haven’t seen clone wars
Well, Disney now holds the franchise…
Somehow the younglings returned…
How does one “master” the technique though? Anakin least of all. Like okay, we can imagine Qui-Gon discovered the technique, meditated on and developed it over years of his life and managed to get it right on his only chance to put it into action. Honestly, it is probably something that has long been attempted and he is just the first to get it right. Cool. And he used his ghost to teach Yoda and Obi-Wan, who also prepared over years to attain this state. But Anakin was not on good terms with any of them until his last minute shift. So… how did he even know about the technique, let alone master it?
My knowledge of Star Wars lore is extremely spotty, but I would guess through Palpatine, no? He seems like an “cheat death” expert.
As far as I recall from interviews and such this actually requires love, of which dark siders aren’t capable. My guess is that Qui-Gon or Obi-Wan gave Anakin some flash instructions and he got it quickly due to being the chosen one.
How can dark siders not be capable of love? Love is the very thing that caused Anakin to turn and the dark side is all about using your emotionality to your advantage. I’m not saying you’re wrong necessarily, just that whoever made that cannon is fucking stupid.
It wasn’t love that turned Anakin. It was his fear of loss. Love for his son actually let him find his way back to the light.
By the end Anakin’s love for Padmé was twisted, cowardly and selfish. Palpatine manipulated it until just desperation was left. Anakin didn’t even trust her anymore when she confronted him on Mustafar.
People don’t understand, it wasn’t Anakin’s fault, it was the sand. Coarse, irritating, getting into and in the way of EVERYTHING. Little known fact, Alderaanian beaches had some of the worst sand in the galaxy.
The tragedy of Vader is that he unwittingly turned the whole planet of Alderaan into a cloud of sand.
It’s really sad how in 2 movies we didn’t see enough of this for it to become obvious.
Love and trust, contrary to popular belief, are not mutually exclusive. The perfect example is the parents of a shithead teen. Also, while I agree that Anakin was turned because of his bond and the way that Palpatine manipulated him through it, to say that he didn’t love Padme is simply untrue. What makes us fear loss of a loved one if they aren’t a loved one? Fear of loss is innately connected to his love for Padme, which is the reason that jedi aren’t supposed to have attachments so as not to be influenced by their emotions. The issue with it is that he stepped into the emotionality and let the fears, angers, etc. that come alongside love to win him over. Furthermore, it is unclear that he ever really returns from the dark side. He saves his son, but in doing so breaks the same code that he broke in order to try to save Padme. It just so happens that his son was one of the good guys. My argument here is that he was still a dark-sider, or at least quasi-darksider and could have still learned to become a force ghost through that.
The dark side is a pyramid scheme except instead of money it’s your soul.
So eventually you go emotionally broke and blame other people.
Anakin seemed to gain some seriously innate power from the father when he united the force.
Nope. That was the whole point of having force ghosts as a plot point. Anakin fell to the dark side to try and save Padme and live his ideal life but the tools he needed to save her and cheat death were only possible through the light side all along.
Palpatine or more correctly, Darth Sidious, lied. The dark side itself has no means of living forever in the force or healing someone using the force. Those are fundamentally light side abilities which is why they perpetually eluded the Sith. It’s the reason why Sidious had to turn to bioengineering to find a way to make clones that retained his M counts and which he could transfer his consciousness into via the dark side.
I get the feeling that a lot of viewers miss the irony of that whole thing. If Anakin had been wiser or his teachers more empathetic and less dogmatic he would never have fell to the dark side and would not have been susceptible to Darth Sidious’s manipulation.
If in doubt, you can always play the old “Chosen One” card to hand waive that sort of thing away.
Mr “highest midichlorian count in history” Skywalker might get a free pass just because he’s magic.
Which on balance probably means it was pretty lucky he did a redemption arc before he died, otherwise they’d have been stuck with an evil maniac in their immortal ghost club.
Magic!
We watched the Fucked With Edition of episode 6 a couple of years back.
My girlfriend stood up and shouted “what the fuck is he doing there!” and that’s just one reason she’s now my wife.
4K83 if you want the real one.
Is 4K83 better than Harmy Despecialized?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmy's_Despecialized_Edition
When discussing TN1’s projects, Harmy expressed that he considered them “vastly superior” restorations to the Despecialized Editions.
Well I guess that settles it. An endorsment from the creator himself!
Lightsabering all those children was really not very nice of Anakin.
Anakin: “Aww, a piñata too! You shouldn’t have!”
