Because a signal jammer doesn’t work just in a range, these things jam by creating noise in a certain radius, but more often than not this noise acts like a wall and blocks signals outside the actual radius, and if you have the thing near a tower it blocks every connection to the tower. Jammers are illegal in almost every country because of that, imagine the things blocking emergency calls, among other very nasty problems.

Can you point me to one of these? We could do with something like this for work and I’d like to give examples to the seniors - they’ll tell me to sod off but at least I can say I tried ;-)

Jammers are not a feasible option, but lets use this as a friendly place to educate, not just yell at each other.

I hope that range is the same shape as the classroom, and doesn’t leak out of doors and windows.

So here’s your two options for doing this:
Phone signal jammer - illegal because you are purposefully interfering over a licensed radio band.
Retrofit all classrooms into a Faraday cage - impractical because ludicrously expensive.
