@TheNumberOfGeese 🤣 I was hoping more of a Kevin Costner Water World.
Thanks for the advice, I would have plenty of questions about how not to break anything too!
I kind of hope there would be a little booklet to help explain all these things too.
@PhylMoel This is great for emergency mental health issues but it’s the wait for after care which is terrible. Years wait to have therapy in some cases.
@PragmaticOne @doublejay3000 LISTS! I forgot about that! thanks for the tip!
@doublejay3000 Honestly I am unsure how it all works. I think the post is created on the mastodon server i am on then pushes it to the place you tag. Maybe its a cross post?
I’m still unsure if using the one account over many fediverse service is really workable. I know people are working on more support between lemmy and mastodon but right now it is a little bit janky.
@Kichae @dragontamer @goat But was it the right tool for what they want?
I read the “essays” the beehive have to “join” and take part. In my view they wanted to make a space for their own community and choose a fediverse where they should have picked a closed off forum/discord/redditcopy.
After reading some of the “essays” they have on the about the community it seems they want there own site/community. Maybe a forum/reddit/discord server would suit what they want better than a federated place.
To me it seems they just looked for somewhere they could achieve what they wanted (ie reddit copy) but not understood the federated part of the tech.
@GreatAlbatross
Here are the “tips” I have learnt for using #Lemmy with #mastodon
Follow communities and people by copying the url into the mastodon search. You follow them a bit like you would a hashtag and then all posts from that community will show in your feed.
Reply to posts or comments you copy the url of a post or comments into the search on mastodon.
Post to a community by @ it in for example it would be @ “feddituk@feddit.uk” or @ “unitedkingdom@feddit.uk”.
@unitedkingdom You can also follow communities and people on #Lemmy from mastodon.
To do so you copy the url into the search on #mastodon
You can also do this to reply to posts.
@Lubricate7931 You sum up how a lot of people feel and use that site. I am one who is the same as you.
@jalexmatey I thought city never got out of 4th gear.
@unitedkingdom I did this by including ‘unitedkingdom@feddit.uk’ as an @
@tom Hi, great to see you set up an instance for UK. I am just testing how this works with mastodon or if i need to make a separate account.
@Lodreus That is a poor service. Had those issues in the past but not for a few years now. Drop me a DM if you still looking.
