We wrongly said that a study on behalf of Thames Water showed “1 in 12 Londoners is an illegal migrant” (News, Jan 23). In fact the study covered only 7 million people in specific “water resource zones”, not the whole population of London, which is closer to 9 million. 1 in 12 was the highest of a range of estimates for the proportion of “irregular migrants”, but these estimates included some people who are not illegal immigrants, such as those given indefinite leave to remain, as well as some British-born children of migrants with irregular status.
They, of course, haven’t corrected the actual article, which shows up in search results. The claim itself if from the Telegraph, who’ve yet to issue their own correction.
Why is Thames Water commissioning studies about people’s immigration status? Stop pissing about and fix the pipes!
They are looking for excuses for their failure. While trying to convince ofwat they are working hard.
Before all this sewer crap came out. Thames was making excuses that London was harder to maintain due to age, population and restrictions on digging up pipes. That they claim other cities don’t face.
This is just more of the same. Trying to argue the populational stress in London is way higher then documented.
Unfortunately the clear evidence they feel the need to lie about the numbers. Will not harm the shitty arseholes causing the real strain.
Yet the lie is the only information in this headline.
You’d think if immigration was as bad (both in terms of numbers and its effects on Britain) as they think, they wouldn’t have to lie so much.

Actual scumbags
