I mean, going by the amount of money Truss is still allowed to claim, going down with the ship isn’t the stupidest idea, at least financially.
If you are an older Tory politician this would be a chance you may never get again (as, hopefully, the Tories are out in the cold for a couple of elections at least) - you’d get your name in the history books, you’d get a sweet cash payout and your value would jump for after-dinner speeches and non-executive directorships.
