IIRC after he got Covid and had a pretty terrible bout with it he actually changed his tune and did something about it. Trump was getting experimental treatments and could barely stand/breathe (remember that ridiculous “show of strength” he did from a balcony?), refused to correct course.

Trump is an idiot. Boris plays the fool.

I suspect this came about because he is trying to distract from a scandal in a Google search. Like when he said he likes to build model buses to distract from the scandal where he advertised lies about brexit on buses. Or when he said he doesn’t like working from home because it “makes him think of cheese” to distract from his illegal wine and cheese party during the covid19 lock down.

The guy is pure irredeemable scum.

This is a tactic called memory holing.

Basically you make something impossible to search for by doing something involving those same terms.

Many people accused Kevin Spacey of doing this when he took a movie role about a guy who was falsely accused of exploiting minors. But that was just a coincidence, however what Boris was doing was the real deal.

You looked up Boris and cheese and you get this weird cheese quote instead of anything relating to his illegal party.

There was a Governor in the US who tried it but it backfired. As soon as he lost he pardoned basically every murderer and rapist in the state to try to get headlines complaining about the Governor setting the bad guys free, trying to make the new guy look bad.

This didn’t work because they used his name instead of his title, so everyone knew specifically which Governor was to blame.

Imagine trump, but with the brains to do damage, and the ability to cover his tracks. (Based on what we know he’s done, I dread to think what he’s gotten away with).

At least he has a relatively anxious existence at home with his (current) wife who appears to have him by the short and curlies. Not that it will occur to him that this might be karmic justice of some sort. (And if it does, his ego and bluster will bury the idea deep in his psyche where he won’t have to look at it.)

        lies about brexit on buses

Or ordering a quite impractical routemaster replacement that was more for decoration than for transport (the company who built it couldn’t sell any and went bankrupt)

No no, that’s ketamine, you’re thinking of the horse dewormer ivermectin.

And yes yes I know it’s used for humans as well, but the reich-wingers were getting it from veterinary suppliers since you can’t get the human version without a prescription. The idiots didn’t come to think that the dose used for horses is much bigger than what’s used for humans so they took ridiculously high doses, shat out their gut lining and thought that was a sign it was helping.

2016 was the year that America and Britain were in a contest to see which country was dumber, at the time it was believed that America would win, Britain seemed like they were ahead, but America had a trump card.

    Fuck TERF Island

Yeah, but the idea of the Donald Trump actually won the 2020 election will forever be a conspiracy theory believed by idiots. Even though it’s the weakest one considering Chump is one of the most unpopular incucumbents in US History

Yeah, people think “smart” is a point on a linear scale from “stupid” to “educated”. In Germany we say “Fachidioten” (“subject idiots”) for people that are well versed in a subject, but idiots otherwise. You can study something, even be good in that and still talk bullshit. Heck, you might spout bullshit despite good education in the topic. Knowingly and unknowingly.

That’s how I read this too, esp in the context of his disparaging comments about post-covid-condition. This is the same kind of minimising, reduce-the-issue-to-the-rediculous comment as when your aunt looks at you condicendingly and says “I mean, have you tried cutting out avacado toast darling? Maybe that would help you get a house.”

Mr Cummings gave more details on his claim that Mr Johnson had to be stopped from going to see Queen Elizabeth II in person on March 18 - five days before the first lockdown was announced. He said No10 officials were prepared to prevent him getting into his car. “He rejected our advice,” Mr Cummings wrote. “I was desperate and said something like, ‘If you’ve got Covid and you kill the Queen you’re finished’. [No10 adviser] Cleo [Watson] said she would not let him get in the car. He agreed not to go.”

Pathologically selfish people struggle with the whole concept of taking care of others, and should not be running countries.

Johnson has been vaccinated against COVID several times, and it was on the news at the time. He is publicly pro-vaccine.

The hairdryer thing was probably before vaccines were available, although this article does not make that clear.
