I have never known a company go from being “super cool” to “super prone to making themselves look like fannies” in such a short space of time. It’s almost impressive.

Mmm, they’ve been working on looking like fannies for a while.

I haven’t bought a Brewdog beer for at least a couple of years now since I don’t want to support a company that seems to be run by arseholes. It’s a shame because their Nanny State, in particular, was the first low/no alcohol beer that tasted of something rather than just sweet, bland, lager. But Drop Bear has totally replaced Nanny State as my low-alcohol beer of choice (please don’t tell me they’re arseholes too!).

I couldn’t tell you about that firm, always willing to try new beers mind!

I know their headline grabbing antics are particularly bad, but having lived on their home patch for a wee while, they’re not particularly well regarded as local neighbours either.

I know the following is absolutely subjective, but their beers are… alright? I wouldn’t say no to one but I’ve neither the stomach not the wallet to go on the piss purely on Brewdog beers. Their food is lovely too but you almost have to speak with your mortgage adviser first to see if it’s a bright idea.

I can’t remember the last time I voluntarily went to Brewdog or bought a few of their tinnies either, outside of meeting there for a work’s do or going there because visitors wanted to.

They gave the appearance to the outside for sure - BBC podcast is what put me off them. That and the Parma Violet beer they did in an advent calendar the other year, just because you can doesn’t mean you should lads.

I dunno, I think 10 years ago I was hearing bad shit about them, especially the owner.

I’m not sure they’ve ever been good at PR!

‘BrewDog has a history of treating their workers with contempt, but to sack a worker of colour for objecting to members of a fascist organisation meeting in their workplace is a new low for this company,’ says Bryan Simpson, Lead Organiser at Unite Hospitality.

Oh but she was rude and abusive to them! WINK WINK

It sounds from the article like some EDL members walked in off the street for a drink, as opposed to booking it out for their meeting/rally. I can see why the bar manager chose not to refuse service or kick them out - he might have got his head kicked in by a drunk mob of thugs after all. Still, sacking an asian employee for being freaked out by them was uncalled for, even if she was swearing.

Either way, their beer is overpriced.

American here - how does the EDL rank in severity of their bullshit compared to American racist groups? I’ve never heard of them before that I can remember.

They’re pretty bad mostly they’re actual Nazis too. Fortunately they have the combined intellect of a cantaloupe so they don’t really pose much of a problem. Mostly they’re just loud and irritating.

They’re very vocal minority I’m not quite sure why a beer company would really want anything to do with them. The PR fallout doesn’t seem like it could remotely be worth it.
