Wannabe Tory MP Adam Gregg, who has rubbed shoulders with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, has withdrawn from the election race – saying the ‘events were of their time’

Christ, they’ll be no Tories left at this rate. Although, that’s not a bad thing.

the “events were of their time and I can understand how they could be viewed differently in today’s world”.

Ah yes, the days of 2006, when paedophilia was perfectly normal.

Exactly. It was in fact only perfectly normal up until 2000, when the murder of Sarah Payne introduced the word paedophile into common use.

Before that we just had that weird guy that we were told to stay away from.

Elsewhere, Gregg was pictured online in 2016 holding roses next to the winner of “Miss Roadblock” at a kids night. And a flyer for the event for 13 to 17 year-olds in Hull in 2016 requested: “All ladies please arrive stunning!” The £5-a-head event was billed as having “The most up for it Crowd”, promising the “Miss Roadblock 2016” winner would get a professional photoshoot and beauty makeover.

Ah yes, those far away times of…less than a decade ago.

Also wtf is a “miss roadblock” contest?

None of that seems inappropriate, I don’t really get what the problem is. These were just like, social nights for teenagers.

I suspect publishing pictures of under age kids is the issue. It does sound like a slightly more clubby school disco and I assume these were alcohol and drug free events with only children and vetted adults on site?

As of Friday, when the deadline for candidates closed, the Tories had got candidates into all but one of the UK seats (and a few in NI). With this rush to get slots filled, it was obvious that there would be a few repeats of what happened with Labour in Rochdale in February, because they had so clearly picked whoever was available just so they had someone in each seat. I rather suspect this is the first of several withdrawals we’ll see over the next week or two - probably another Tory or two, and almost certainly a couple from Reform as well.

“no Tories left”? Surely Starmer’s got plenty of them?
