Mr Farage also spoke with shoppers and while standing by a market stall selling eggs, joked that after being covered in a milkshake last week he did not want eggs to be the next thing thrown at him.

    Someone ready the eggs

If what he loves is a hurled brick, he’s welcome to as many as he’d like.

Frankly I have no patience for ‘that’s just want they want!’ as a kneejerk response to any backlash against diet Nazis. They’ll claim victory no matter what happens. That’s part of what makes the fascists. The nature of bad faith is that there is no right answer.

If this pattern means the only headlines about this asshole go ‘asshole hit by [object]’ - great. Beats reporting any of the garbage flying from his face.

Can you point to an example in history where this worked? Because all the examples of successful big changes (womens right to vote for example) have included mass uprisings, and violence directed at those in power, and often their financial interests.

Nonviolence resistance has had successes. It’s a great way of winning over public opinion.

Here, it’s the establishment resisting regressive forces of change. The Nazi grow when they can show the established ways in bad light. “Look how those woke liberals are. You don’t want to be like that, so you want to be with us.”

Like those Andrew Tate videos that aren’t directly him, but a laughing response to a video of “liberals” responding to a video of his.

Sure, but that’s public opinion of the political parties. If, say, trans rights are being attacked. You push to get non-terfs into office and you get a few, but not enough to ensure transfolk are safe. What then? I mean, even with enough representatives in office it could take years to make real changes in people’s lives.

So, do you wait until next election? Accepting in the mean time that hundreds if not thousands of people will become homeless, become socially ioslated, and die by suicide?

No. I don’t think many would say that is the right course of action. So then what? A mass movement is the only way to force the government’s hand. Peaceful at first sure, but with a clear plan to win, with intentional planned escalations, targeting those in power by threatening their popularity, and financial interests. But why then should you wait until the election? Show those in power what they have to lose through a mass movement before any election occurs.

                  That’s how you make change.

If it’s just to make them look silly and not liked, but not actually hurt.

If someone stabbed Farage, he’d make such hay of it. I’d half expect him to have arranged it! Wouldn’t surprise me if he arranged the odd milkshake too, to keep him in the news.

Oh no, making hay. That totally cancels out getting stabbed.

Sick to death of this nothing-works attitude. Yeah - there is no course of action that fascists won’t claim proves them right. Stop listening to fascist claims. They lie. They’re fascists. That’s their schtick. But in the same way as deplatformed cranks shouting ‘I was cancelled!’ to an empty room, and spanked children insisting ‘that didn’t hurt!,’ sometimes you can ignore the words coming out of their stupid mouths.

I originally had a switcheroo joke about being an undemocratic Russian stooge, but then I remembered how he and his like stocked the 2016 nutters, and we lost Jo Cox. As much as I don’t like the guy no one should be attacked just for standing democratically.

Look at you, being a decent human being.

The majority of people on here seem to think political violence is acceptable purely against people they disagree with. It would be a different story if it was left-wingers being attacked more often though.

Apparently, this means they’re also morally superior. Lol.

What you’re advocating is violence towards anyone that you don’t like. That isn’t what a just society should condone.

Fascist or not, they need to be defeated by words and the law not by fists and violence. What do you think is the end logic of what you’re saying? When the actually fascist elements of society start doing the same thing as you’re advocating and start to assault people they disagree with?

I’m not sure why this is controversial but yet it appears that it is. 🤷‍♀️

These assholes are already doing violence. That’s what makes them Nazis. That’s why we’re talking about more than coming together to sing kum-ba-yah. They don’t “disagree” with people. They’re dehumanizing anyone who was born wrong. Do you understand the difference?

Repeatedly explaining how this goes beyond “disagree” and “like” hasn’t helped, so far. Would a third time be different?

Do you even have a consistent position vis-a-vis milkshakes to the face?
